Short Summary

To provide exceptional and professional service in a quick service environment. Maintain strong product knowledge to assist with guests’ menu comprehension, upsell for improved guest ordering and create a positive guest experience. Responsible for the processing of guest’s orders using a Point of Sales (POS) system. Will also provide professional and efficient service during events, for example (table service, banquet, buffet or passed Hors d’oeurves). Assist with the coordination and fulfillment of all guest’s order while always performing under the Food and Beverage standard operating procedures.

Job Description

Counter Server (Core Responsibilities):

  • Provide excellent customer service to guests including thorough knowledge of menus and ability to upsell products
  • Take customer orders in a timely, efficient and professional manner
  • Adhere to Smart Serve procedures while selling alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverage
  • Perform opening and closing duties for VUE Bistros ensuring that they are stocked, clean and maintained
  • Maintain a thorough knowledge of menus, products, cooking process, ingredients and potentially relevant allergies
  • Ensure all “grab and go” products are stocked as necessary and rotated daily including but not limited to (pastries, cold beverage retail items) Ensure all par stock (cups, sugar, napkins) are available in quick service outlets
  • Assist the Restaurant Service Managers and VUE Bistros staff with other designated duties within the job classification

Event Server (on occasion):

  • Check assigned section for cleanliness, uniformity and overall appearance, including but not limited to linens, chairs, tables, table setting, glass wear and surrounding area
  • Provide table service including but not limited to, accurate and professional order processing, timing, seat placement, special requests all in accordance to the Food and Beverage Standard Operating Procedures (SOP’s)

Qualifications

  • One (1) - three (3) years of related quick service experience is required
  • One (1) to three (3) years of related experience, preferably in the server or banquets server capacity, is preferred
  • Smart Serve certification is required
  • Food and Beverage POS and/or cash handling experience is required
  • Food and Beverage knowledge is require
  • Bilingualism (English/French) is an asset

Working Conditions

Interacts with employees, management and the public at large.
Department uniforms are provided to protect personal clothing from wear and damage.
Approved uniforms are to be worn during working hours. Dress codes are in effect as per the standard policy and procedure.
Must be able to work in a physical capacity requiring lifting, pushing and pulling, bending and reaching.
Ability to stand or walk for long periods of the day.
Noisy and fast-paced, team environment.
Excellent guest services skills with an ability to recommend the CN Tower products.
Flexible to work rotating shifts, which includes but is not limited to evenings, weekends, holidays and overtime as required.
