Title: General Labourer

Short Summary

The responsibility of this role is to provide a safe and comfortable environment for all guests, staff and the general public when providing physical labour support to any trades that do not require specific and or specialized skills of a qualified tradesperson.

Due to the scope of responsibilities of this role, the working hours and days for this position is susceptible to change as required by the Manager, Facilities and Maintenance and occasional overtime may be required.

Job Description

Perform structured tasks as determined by the Shift Supervisors and Manager, Facilities and Maintenance.
Assist in minor construction projects
Responsible for dry walling, patching, painting projects around the CN Tower
General repairs as required
Supervise outside supplemental labourer agencies as required
Periodic shift work required
Assist other trades people
Adhere to compnay policies and departmental procedures
Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

A minimum of three (3) to five (5) years of related experience is required.
Knowledge of building trades tools, repairs and maintenance is required.
Adaptive to working on multiple projects with strict deadlines under pressure.
Experience in painting, plastering, taping and drywalling

Working Conditions

Work involves medium exposure to unusual elements, such as extreme temperatures, dirt, dust, fumes, smoke, unpleasant odors, and/or loud noises.

Flexible to work rotating shifts, which includes but is not limited to evenings, weekends, holidays and overtime as required.

Medium physical effort. Requires occasional handling of heavyweight objects and, frequently, a large amount standing or walking. Effort applies to number of hours as required.

Department uniforms are provided to protect personal clothing from wear and damage. Approved uniforms are to be worn during working hours. Dress codes are in effect as per the standard policy and procedure.
