Short Summary
As a member of the IT Shared Services team of Canada Lands Company (CLC), this role provides investigation, analysis, modelling, selection, implementation, and functional support of new and existing business system solutions in support of business cases, proposed projects, and systems requirements. They will also apply proven communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills to help the business make good technology decisions. The role will act as a liaison among stakeholders in order to understand the structure, policies, and operations of CLC and its subsidiaries, and to help maximize the benefit of IT investments, by making recommendations on solutions that enable the goals and vision of the organization. The Business Systems Analyst will play a pivotal role in ensuring IT understands the business requirements.
This role will be based out of Toronto but will be required to provide support to IT initiatives and end user communities at other Canada Lands Company locations.
Job Description
Collaborate in planning, designing, developing, deploying, and supporting applications. Define business, financial, and operations requirements by engaging decision makers and end users. Propose solutions for business challenges and system inefficiencies. Analyze and improve existing systems while researching new technologies. Conduct feasibility studies to support management decisions. Lead design sessions to enhance business processes and workflows. Gather and document user requirements, ensuring clarity and compliance. Review, verify, and refine business requirements through peer evaluations. Communicate changes and enhancements effectively to stakeholders.
Facilitate and function as a liaison between business and technical units and works with analysts to design solutions to meet business requirements.
Where applicable, develop prototypes of interfaces based on the user requirements.
Ensure compatibility and interoperability of in-house computing systems.
Prepare, coordinate and perform in-depth tests, including functional testing, integration testing and user acceptance testing, for modified and new systems.
Implementation support
Prepare test cases, scripts and test data, lead integration and end user testing,
Contribute to, and may lead, the creation of cut-over plans.
Manage software configurations, support data cleansing and migration during project go live.
Project Leadership
Collaborate with project sponsors to determine project scope and vision.
Work with stakeholders and project team to prioritize requirements.
Lead cross-functional teams involved in project development and/or implementation.
May lead/manage efforts for various components of a technology project.
User Training and Support
Write technical and business documentation (including training manuals).
Provide orientation and training to end users for all modified and new systems. Builds new end user training programs as required.
Provide direction to internal and external users and assist in the effective and efficient resolution of issues.
Provide the day-to-day support to the user community and the various business system solutions as well as work with software vendors to report and resolve system issues.
Qualifications
A relevant MBA, university degree or college diploma in Information Technology, Computer Science, Business Management is preferred, or equivalent experience.
A minimum of five (5) years of experience in an information technology or business consulting role, in a public or private industry
Demonstrated understanding of systems lifecycle, project management and change management principles.
Hands on experience with Microsoft Suite of products
Working knowledge of the functional modules of an Enterprise Resource Planning system such as JD Edwards, Virtuo or SAP is required.
Experience with Business Intelligence concepts and tools and Database Management concepts and tools
Report writing solutions such as SAP Business Objects or SQL Server Reporting Services would be an asset.
Proven success delivering projects in a team environment.
Some occasional travel is possible and will consist mostly of same day excursions within the local area. Out of province/out of country travel will be minimal, if at all.
