Title:  Building Aesthetic, Supervisor

Short Summary

The Building Aesthetic Supervisor will be responsible in for maintaining and improving the building aesthetic, as well as support the timely and safe completion of all preventative and predictive maintenance tasks as well as small to medium size capital projects.  This position will be responsible for all maintenance staff and contractor trades consisting of electricians, mechanics, plumbers and refrigeration mechanics.

Job Description

  • Ensure the aesthetic of the building and premises is maintained at all times
  • Physically inspect building interior, exterior, and grounds on a daily basis and make arrangements to rectify any issues found
  • Responsible for all flooring, lighting, and walls (what exactly??)
  • Ensure all preventative and predictive schedules are reviewed, prioritized and timely executed.
  • Troubleshoot equipment breakdowns, investigate and implement solutions to prevent reoccurrence.
  • Ensure all critical systems are operating reliably.
  • Purchase all materials and contractor labour as per the corporate procurement policy.
  • Monitor and maintain spare parts inventory related to HVAC, refrigeration, commercial kitchen appliances, lighting, mechanical and electrical fittings etc.
  • Ensure all trades practice good housekeeping when completing tasks.
  • Create work orders as needed to maintain new and existing equipment.
  • Responsible for the housekeeping of all mechanical and electrical rooms.
  • Ensure the efficient operation of all critical equipment.
  • Assist the Manager, Facilities and Maintenance with staff scheduling.

Qualifications

  • Certified Engineering Technologist, Certified Building Operator, Licensed Electrical or Plumbing Trade is preferred.  A diploma from a secondary school is required.
  • A minimum of three (3) to five (5) years of related experience in facilities or maintenance management is required.
  • Must have plant equipment experience i.e. (HVAC, chillers, cooling towers, automation, switchgear, plumbing fixtures, power train, transmission systems, and life safety systems).
  • Trained and experienced in fall arrest and working at heights is required.
  • Ability to work under pressure to meet deadlines, conflicting demands, frequent interruptions, and heavy workloads.
  • Must be able to function well under pressure and attend to emergencies.
  • Superior organizational skills necessary to prioritize and coordinate multiple projects; and skill in organizing resources.
  • On call 24 hour a day and 7 days a week.

Working Conditions

Work involves medium exposure to unusual elements, such as extreme temperatures, dirt, dust, fumes, smoke, unpleasant odors, and/or loud noises.
Must be able to work in a physical capacity requiring extended periods of standing, moderate lifting, pushing, pulling, bending and reaching.
Ability to crawl, climb (i.e. a ladder), enter confined spaces and work at heights.
Ability to work in varying weather conditions (including but not limited to cold and hot weather)
Department uniforms are provided to protect personal clothing from wear and damage. Approved uniforms are to be worn during working hours. Dress codes are in effect as per the standard policy and procedure.
